Somehow, my body feels heavy……) If you're a pro, you're going to buy the software because you need it. I don't actually understand the reasoning, really. Not much but they've at least automated the process so you don't have to make two trips into town to get the software you've paid for working again. Screenwriter is a bit more elegant in its approach. Thankfully I'm only using FD to read/revise someone else's work. They can do what they like, but it's annoying for the user who, as I am, is on a little Greek island trying to get some work done in peace. The assumption is that all users are (a) in the ConUS, (b) have an internet connection and (c) aren't doing anything particular much that day in the way of work so can wait for a support dude to reset the damn registration database. you have a system crash and reinstall, or (as I did) you upgrade to Snow Leopard then have to roll back because SnoLe isn't really ready to print with your new HP printer (tsk). The activation system will dump you like a shot if e.g. In Screenwriter you have to set up an "outline element" which isn't quite so well-behaved, though it does work.)īUT. ( I'm working on a musical at the moment, which needs a LYRIC element. It does its stuff and it's easier to set up new script elements than Screenwriter. Though I might try Storyist which looks like it has lots of promise for what I'm currently looking for.įD8 isn't so bad. So until it's changed it's back to Scrivener and Word for me. Not 8 pages of scene headings to look at and intimidate me.īottom line, if Final Draft can unlock the outline from the script I think this would be a great product again, but right now the big improvements they are touting aren't quite ready for primetime yet. There's an option not to have your summaries show up on the script view, but you still see all your scene headings on the page view and this is very very distracting. If my outline changes it's no longer an outline, it's merely an extension of the script and not an outline. Personally I need to separate things to write a good script. But the program is designed so that whatever you write in your outlining phase is accurately reflected in the script. I need a locked outline so I can go back and refer to it, but when I contacted Final Draft they said there was no way to unlink the two. So I finally got my outline entered into Final Draft 8 and as I start writing my information in my outline changes as I go. You need to be able to do all three in each view. So I figured I would write just fill out the outline in index card view, but alas you cannot enter scene titles in index card view so I figured I would try using just the summary cards, but there you cannot enter the scene headings! This was crazy to me. In the outliner/scene view you cannot enter your summary, you have to switch to index card view. I "imported" the outline I was already working on and by imported I mean I cut and pasted each individual story beat and then continued using FD8. Playing around with the demo I was excited, but when I upgraded for $80 I was very disappointed. They claim they took note of other programs like Scrivener and Save the Cat and others. Well now Final Draft claims to have built an ideal outlining program into their program. The text in outline mode is a little small, but I loved the notes features and the importing of html snippets and pictures and whatnot, but I didn't enjoy writing screenplays on it and to have to switch between Scrivener and Final Draft while writing was a bit of a pain so I'd ultimately end up just exporting it back to Word. But moving scenes is a bit of a pain in Word so I started to use Scrivener to outline my scripts. I've never been into the index card thing. I'm a meticulous outliner and used to outline everything in Word. It floated in 7 and I'd lose the top of my document underneath it. One of the best Mac improvements is that the menu bar is now back attached to the script document. Though there are a few school down artifacts, but I'm used to that by now and I've found them to exist in other screenwriting programs. FD8 is far less buggy and the text is now crystal clear. 7 was very buggy until the end and its text was very unclear and there were artifacts virtually every time I scrolled down. I've been using Final Draft since version 1 or 2 and have always found the actual screenwriting aspect of the program great and easy to use. Six to seven thousand Americans saved from the clutches of the Taliban, and not a single story of those Americans arriving home to the waiting arms of their loving family.īut here’s the thing: I don’t think my deliberative process is unique or even rare. No crowds or families greeting the extracted American residents no human interest stories and local broadcasted news coverage of relieved Americans, husbands, wives, daughters or sons arriving back in their hometown…. However, it seems a little odd now that there’s no videos of the survivors of the Afghan crisis arriving at airports. Whoa, Kid, Leave Some Girls For The Rest Of Us, Will Ya? Once again the Horde proves they are the best. AOP (after telling me about a friend of his' wife who broke her neck flipping a mower on a golf course) gave me a few simple instructions and I had the thing running again in about ten minutes. I needed someone who knows what they are doing's advice, so I called Alberta Oil Peon. Anyhow, I used some ramps and the truck to pull the mower out of the lake, but I was worried about what harm the water may have done to the engine and how to best get it going again. Funny thing is that since then everybody I meet has a friend/relative/acquaintance who did the same kind of thing and died. I was fine, I was thrown clear, and the mower was only in the shallow part of the lake, but boy did I feel stupid. I was trying to cut too close to the edge of the retaining wall (which was stupid, that's a job for the trimmer) and my rear wheel started to slide over the edge, which pitched me and the tractor into the lake. So, last weekend, I managed to dump my zero-turn mower into the lake. Whoever Desires To Found An ONT And Give It Laws, Must Start With Assuming That All Men Are Bad And Ever Ready To Display Their Vicious NatureĮvening Horde! What's going on out there in gray box land, any news? I'm also not a big fan of my first two neighbors that moved in-but don't tell them I said that. The music those first eight or so days dang near drove me insane. Do you remember that lovely music that would change each hour? That didn't even kick in until Tom was able to open up a Resident Services building that wasn't just a tent. Life on the island took longer than usual to really get going. At least there are more PRO Design templates to choose from this time. (Have you played that yet, Anchovy?) I can type messages using the screen, but I can't sketch a design it's very odd. I have to go pixel-by-pixel using the D-Pad, and can't even use a stylus to draw like in Super Mario Maker 2. The downside is that unlike my last town, designing is just as clunky as it was back when you were my neighbor. I also designed a stylish brown checkered print, which I put on my Nook Phone case. I made a sweater like the one worn by a character of one of my favorite video games, Yume Nikki. Personally, I'm still more into making my own clothes, just like I did back when we were mere city folk, and when I was turning over a new leaf. Oh right: and the Able Sisters are here! They've opened up a shop where every day they have new clothes on display. We can spend Nook Miles on neat things like recipes or furniture, or a flight on Dodo Airlines to another deserted island to explore for supplies like wood, weeds, flowers, even- shudder-tarantulas. No one can say there's "nothing to do" now, because we have goals to work toward. It's another solution to what our neighbors in nearby towns used to often complain about. There are daily challenges too-your first five are worth 2x to 5x points, depending-which constantly rotate out, so you're never without a way to earn Nook Miles. Basically, we have punch cards where once you, say, catch 500 fish, you get a punch on your "Angling for Perfection!" card and a healthy dose of bonus Nook Miles points. Tom did do one nice thing: He signed me up for Nook Miles, a new rewards program that gives us "points" like a credit card, but with none of the baggage. who lets me sell fish to him for an even higher price every now and then. There's even a "seasports" streamer named C.J. So, it's a good thing I'm a master fisherman and bug catcher. I've been helping Tom with building bridges and stairs across the island too, which each cost hundreds of thousands of Bells. I've met a few animals, like Jacques, who decided to move here to the island on a whim-I can't even imagine how much he owes Tom. He never charges interest though, which I appreciate. We will have impressions on how smoothly the multiplayer runs at a later date.Īs for Tom, yes, he still charges us insane living costs. We also weren't able to see how it is to share an island between multiple players on a single console. Unfortunately, servers for Animal Crossing: New Horizons were not live during the review period, and thus, we were unable to test out the up-to-8-player multiplayer. (I'll get to it eventually.) My recipe book for what I can make gets bigger with each day. I have immediate and long term goals now, like crafting a giant mech to plop somewhere in town. At first it's a little annoying-grinding for one teensy material so that I can appease Tom Nook in some way-but as the weeks have stretched on, I've come to find it satisfying. I'm always worried I'm going to take a stray one with me when I leave, but they always stay put. The museum here is so impressive too: There's a neat butterfly exhibit for all the ones I've caught. We can craft tools to help us fish we can catch bugs, and we can even dig up fossils to donate to good ol' Blathers at the museum. There's more to do on Sunset than we could ever do back at home, Anchovy. It's inevitable when I'm rocking braided pigtails, I suppose. It's the most beautiful town I've ever lived in-even if sometimes my tools clip through my hair in an awkward way. My favorite time is in the afternoon, when the sun hits everything just right, so the water looks a dark blue the light green leaves of the cherry trees glisten. The water in the river changes its shade of blue depending on the day. It reminds me of the time I went to Oahu to visit my friend who has the coolest job in the world studying birds and plants. At first, it was deserted, but now a bunch of folks have moved in alongside me. Not for any particular reason life just moved along. I had an assistant named Isabelle, who was so helpful and sweet. I had an ordinance in place to make the town beautiful all the time, so no more weed pulling. Seven-ish years ago, I was even the mayor of a town-can you imagine that! I think I was an okay mayor. So much has changed since we last talked. How are you? When you moved out of our town of Neo-Tokyo in 2009, I couldn't bear to stick around either, so I bounced too.
